Jeffrey Thomas Kvaal, beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in New York City on August 9, 2026 after a courageous battle with gastric cancer. Jeff was born on September 23, 1971 in Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up in Lexington, MA and graduated from Brown University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Jeff later earned his M.B.A. from Columbia University. He had a twenty-year career as a highly regarded analyst in Equity Research where he covered telecom services and communications equipment companies. More recently, Jeff led the Investor Relations teams at Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Arm.

Jeff had many passions including a lifelong love for playing and watching basketball. He was an ardent Boston sports fan, urban gardener, and dedicated youth soccer referee. Jeff had a love for travel and the outdoors, movies across genres, gathering for family dinners, and summers on Martha’s Vineyard.

Jeff will be remembered by his family, friends, and colleagues for his kind and thoughtful nature and great sense of humor. He was an impactful and steady presence. Jeff was always generous, selfless, and lived with integrity. He was the pillar of our family and brought his positive energy and enthusiasm wherever he went.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jane Chang, and their children, Thomas (21) and Lily (20); his parents, Robert and Martha Kvaal; his brothers James and wife Stephanie, and Andrew and wife Amy. Jeff also deeply loved Jane’s family and all of his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Church of All Souls, 1157 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY on Friday, August 28 at 3:00 PM. A reception will follow across the street at The Astor House, 130 East 80th Street.
